How to track sales calls that come from ChatGPT: a source field and two reports
6 October 2026 · Jakob Greenfeld
Add a required field to the booking form that asks where the buyer found you, with ChatGPT or another AI assistant as an option. That field is the only place a call gets tied to an AI answer. Analytics alone undercounts, because a buyer who reads an answer and types your address arrives with no referrer.
Setup
- Booking form: one required question, "How did you find us?", with Google, AI assistant (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity), referral and other as options. Calendly and Cal.com both support custom questions.
- Analytics: a saved report of visits whose referrer is chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, gemini.google.com, claude.ai or copilot.microsoft.com.
- Once a month, count booked calls by the source field and set the number next to the referrer report.
What the two numbers looked like for us
At Sales.co, a company the same founder runs, analytics recorded 42 visits from AI referrers in September 2026. In the same month 8 booked calls named an AI assistant in the source field, and 13 named Google. We report the source-field number and use the referrer count as a rough check.
